Avoid Authorities

In my previous post, the one trusting in God, you may have already noticed something. God and science can coexist. You can believe in both without encountering unsolvable conflicts. In fact, they complement each other.

That may already be perfectly clear to you. Or it may come as a surprise. When listening to authorities claiming to represent one or the other, they often contradict each other. But that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about you, truly believing in God and in science.

When you trust authorities, you are missing the opportunity to attain knowledge on your own, to give your life clarity and stability. Thereby you decide to build your life on authorities and you remain dependent on receiving safety and confidence from the outside, instead of giving it to yourself.

You as a human have an interest in understanding, curiosity is an innate trait. And as you get older, you will at some point start looking for a meaning. If you limit your attention to the material world, a meaning can be difficult to find. You may be somewhat familiar with a scientific method to explore the material world. But your perception is not limited to the material world and neither is science. That may seem like a bold statement. Maybe you have never consciously observed anything outside the material world. Then you might instantly dismiss that statement. Many people do so. And they try to find a root cause for everything in the material world. That is an important journey. It will ultimately guide us to look for causes beyond the material world.

Doing that in a scientific manner may be a new idea to you. But it can be done, because our perception is not limited to the material world. Because we have the ability to think. And we can look at those capabilities with a scientific method.
