Truth originates in mankind. More specific, truth originates in Erkenntnis. Also, a fallacy originates in Erkenntnis. Reality exists and is neither true nor false. Only a statement about reality can be true or false.
Assuming that we all live in the same world, the same reality, an Erkenntnis or statement can either be a truth or a fallacy. That is independent of the individual coming forward with the statement. Truth must be measured with reality. If there is one reality, then there is one truth.
When we have beliefs that are based on fallacies, that are wrong, then we will probably get into a conflict with reality at some point. With selective perception it is possible to delay that point quite a bit. Many individuals succeed to hold on to fallacies, wrong Erkenntnis and wrong beliefs their entire life thanks to selective perception. This “ability” is supported by constant distraction and numbing, and also by unclear or twisted language.
The belief that a human is nothing more than its body often results in a seeming conflict between reality and fairness. Adding to this is a common lack of knowledge about how to maintain the human health. Every human body has the same essential features or characteristics. We call those the nature of a human being. But still, every body is unique. When we compare our own body to an ideal, we will find smaller and bigger deviations, which we usually value differently. The ideal itself is also constantly changing, and what ideal we adopt and make our own is dependent on our self-awareness. With a materialistic worldview and according ignorance towards the nature of life and the human nature a feeling of unfair disadvantage compared to the body of an idol can arise. That can be a source of rejection towards reality. The wish to flee into an artificial world, where my appearance can be shaped randomly is widely accepted and fulfilled, even supported in the modern world. Maintaining an avatar does however not replace the maintenance of my own, real body. We already are in a world, and when we spend too much time in virtual worlds, it can hinder our development in this world.
Every body is unique, and every life is individual. Every human has come into this world with personal goals and tasks. We all have in common that we are human and that we came here to develop. To make experiences, to recognize and learn. To learn from one another and benefit from our different perspectives on reality. The attempt to copy the life of an idol can be instructive. But in the end we are here to find our own tasks. When we begin to observe ourselves closer, get to know ourselves better, then we will realize that we have all we need to accomplish our tasks. We are all a bit different because we all got here with our personal tasks.
This world provides challenges for all of us. Even those who appear privileged and have a good starting point for achieving the goals that are trending today. We follow ways that are laid out, achieve goals that are praised, but still do not achieve the contentment we were hoping for. We cannot become content by fulfilling expectations or achieving life goals praised by others. We can only become content when we know ourselves and find and live our own tasks for our own life.
It can be painful to be told a truth. It requires self-awareness to handle our individuality and the unique circumstances that we are presented with. It takes strength to correct my worldview. It takes time and attention to see the possibilities that are hiding in the special circumstances that initially appear as an unfair disadvantage. What success means for our life should be a decision that we make ourselves, and not an opinion coming from outside of us. Nobody can get a better understanding of my tasks in my life than me, and working on those tasks is my success.
Reality cannot hurt us when we have self-awareness, and we do not need to ignore or fight truths or facts. With self-awareness we can solve a conflict between our feelings and logic. That can take time and effort. Logic is a powerful tool that allows us to draw formally correct conclusions to any assumption that we choose. If a conclusion pushes us into a conflict with reality, we should think about the assumptions that we started with. In case of a bad feeling, a guilty conscience arising from a conclusion, we should do the same. We must find the starting point of our logical chain of arguments, our beliefs that are not concluded but adopted. Then we will be able to judge whether the feeling comes from within ourselves and is justified, or if the feeling was planted from the outside, possibly serving interests that are not our own. We must not simply dismiss logic or dismiss feelings. We need both to find orientation. A first introduction how to work on self-awareness is given in the previous article.
